Argentina to win FIFA Trophy final as predicted by the economists. Furthermore, England is predicted to lose the finals as per predictions.
These predictions are made by an economist known for correctly predicting winners of the FIFA World Cup 2014 and 2018.
The famous economist is Joachim Klement, an investment analyst at an investment banking firm. He is firm at his prediction of World Cup result. He made forecast in September, even before the mega sporting event began in Qatar.
He used four-factor based model to make such predictions.
The four factors include: GDP per capita, population size, culture and climate.
According to the four-based model, countries that are warmer tend to have best performers. This is as the game can be played all year long in such countries. Moreover, countries with huge population which likes to play football and high GDP rate per capita also tend to be good football players comparatively. Therefore, keeping all the factors in concern, Argentina to win FIFA Trophy this year.
According to this model, India, China, and Netherlands tend to have very good chances of producing best football players. However, “The Indians have decided to play cricket, God knows why, and the Chinese for some strange reason have really caught up on that,” Klement said, speaking to Bloomberg.
Furthermore, the analyst said that it was not his intention to develop this working prediction model. In fact, he intended to take a jibe at economists who claim to “predict absolutely everything” by doing so.
Klement predicted that England would first lose to Argentina in September. He mentioned that Argentina could only win FIFA trophy for the first time in 36 years only if it defeated Spain in the semi-finals.
However, the economist stated that the FIFA QATAR 2022 has been very complicated. It is difficult to be predicted than the previous tournaments. This is because this world cup is taking place in the winter season.
He revealed that the collective value of players in a team has not been much reliable as an approach to making predictions about winners as much as viewing underlying factors of its success has been.
“The good news for England fans is England is going to make it into the final. The bad news is they’re going to lose this one,” Klement says.
