Government mulling to Export Rice And Medicine To Afghanistan In Pakistani Rupee

Ministry of Commerce and the government of Pakistan had prepared a summary and sent to ECC for a formal approval on this particular issue.

Pakistan is mulling exporting rice and medicines to its Afghan brothers against Pakistani rupee to ease the hardships of neighboring country in dealing with the situation that has arisen after international community has frozen countries foreign funds.

According to media reports the Ministry of Commerce and the government of Pakistan had prepared a summary and sent to ECC for a formal approval on this particular issue.

The source further added that due to the uncertain circumstances owing to the freezing of foreign funds of country by the International community post Taliban take over, the Ministry is mulling measures to carry out trade with Afghanistan by resorting to methods other than banking channels.

Pakistan is also considering diversify the list of items that it would allow to export to Afghanistan against Pakistani currency by including rice and pharmaceutical items in the list since Pakistan has significant exports of these goods to Afghanistan already.
