Honda to Have a Bike Crash Safety Feature

Honda is developing a motorbike crash detection system that can contact emergency services.

According to a report from Cycleworld, the system will make use of sensors for the bike, phone, and Bluetooth headset. Three gadgets offer “better resolution” than what the market currently offers, which can aid emergency personnel in taking quick action.

Emergency teams can determine if a crash was mild or severe based on the data from these sensors. The lean sensors in Honda bikes automatically turn off the engines in the event that the bike tips over, with the sensors initially noticing the tip-over.

However, to prevent calling for aid after normal falls, the bike will check with its next sensor, the cellphone. Commonly asking if a crash happened, traditional crash detection tools will ask the user to cancel a phone warning. If the rider is unable to reject the alert within the feature’s allotted period, the phone calls emergency services.

Honda wants to remove that step and replace it with a Bluetooth headset. This resolution enhances the scene depiction on the system. The system can couple with the Bluetooth device and phone to ascertain if the rider is standing and walking away from the tip-over or is laying on the ground and unmoving.

Moreover, the rider’s phone and helmet will be located by the system. If the bike is on the ground and neither the phone nor the Bluetooth device on the Helmet is moving, the system will contact emergency services. The system’s ability to gauge the rider’s speed prior to the collision adds another layer.

Furthermore, Honda has filed a patent for this technology, which is currently being developed.

The news “Honda to Have a Bike Crash Safety Feature: will absolutely help in reducing fatalities due to bike accidents. Therefore, greater safety for human life.
