Sania Mirza bids farewell
Sania Mirza, the greatest female tennis player in Indian history, said goodbye to big slams on Friday. The most well-known female athlete from India, 36-year-old Mirza, made one final trip to Melbourne Park and advanced to the final on Friday. During the post-match presentation ceremony, Mirza was in tears.
The tennis superstar from India has captured the hearts of millions around the world. Sania has gained fame and admiration thanks to her tennis accomplishments over the past several years not only in India but also in Pakistan.
Fans all across the world have experienced an emotional rollercoaster since she announced her retirement plans earlier this month.

Sania announced her retirement from tennis in a heartfelt Instagram post on January13. She shared her feelings of pleasure and thanks for her professional accomplishments as well as described the highs and lows of her career. Furthermore, she stated that after retiring, she planned to spend more time with her son Izhaan.
She said “My son needs me more than ever now and I can’t wait to live a slightly quieter and calmer life while giving him more of my time than I have been able to give so far”.
Sania Mirza won six Grand Slam doubles championships from 2009 to 2016—three in women’s doubles and three in mixed doubles. She even rose to the top spot in the women’s doubles rankings for the year 2015.
