Islamabad: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety (PA&SS) Faisal Karim Kundi on Monday 5th December in a video message told the public that the government for the first time has included the transgender community as eligible for Benazir Kafalat Program.
Transgender will now be eligible for a quarterly cash assistance of Rs. 7000/-
Faisal Karim Kundi requested the transgender community to get themselves registered as “transgender: with NADRA on their CNIC card. Further, he instructed them to register themselves for the program in their nearest Tehsil office of Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).
He also instructed those transgender who are already registered with BISP but are not getting cash assistance. He told them to immediately file an appeal with their relevant BISP Tehsil office in order to get their cash at the earliest.
Kundi emphasized that only transgender registered with NADRA as transgender are eligible for the cash assistance.
Transgender will be given Rs.7000/- cash after checking their eligibility and verification of documents.
Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety and BISP Chairman, Shazia Marri said that this transgender policy is a “landmark achievement.”
